SNOW!

Snow...

They said it was coming... I never believe it until I see it! Being in the Bighorn Basin, we miss a lot of weather. We're protected by the mountains all around us.

We've had snow in the mountains for a while now and now we have our first snow on the ground. Not a lot... just enough to let you know that winter's fast coming!

Hard to believe that just 2 weeks ago it was warm and toasty with temps in the low 80s!

It's so pretty to look outside! There's snow stuck in all the trees and a dusting on the ground enough to make it look magical out there.

  4. Wow!!! That is a definite wake up call to what is to come! I love snow, but I am not sure how I would feel if it was the reason for a tragic end to my harvest! Luckily, there is little chance of that happening in Boston. With temps that cold, do you know the rest of your veggies will fair? -Liz

  5. Hey Liz-I harvested most of my peas yesterday... still have carrots in the ground though... probably should pull what's left!

  6. Can you keep it there, please? I am SO not ready for a Michigan winter yet - although I'm sure yours are much harsher than ours.
Well, at least you won't have to think much about the garden now for a while.

  7. Hey Sande- hmmm... Michigan... OK... You guys get a lot of snow there, don't you?

I'll try to keep it here!!!

When is your first frost? This is an early snow for us!

  8. Oh my! I hope this isn't a sign of the type of winter you will be having. No snow here, but northern parts of the state and the mountains have had some. The ski resorts also started making snow last week. Winter will be here before we know it.

  9. I saw on the news that Calgary had snow already. I am happy snow is at least a good month off here, I hate winter.

  10. Boo! Snow is something that I absolutely hate. It is kinda pretty, though.

  11. Oh good Dan! You have a little while yet then. It sure is a blustery one here with snow flurries. But I'm canning up some tomato sauce, made my first batch of Mrs. Wages ketchup... and I'm going to try some of Annie's Salsa next.

  12. Hey EG! Yes, it is pretty... but gosh, we usually enjoy an autumn of fairly nice weather... we'll see what this year brings.

  13. Ok, Toni, I was enjoying the cool temps we've had here in NJ but after seeing the 'white stuff' here, I'm kinda dreading it now! Hope your garden is in good order and you didn't lose anything unexpected. Did you get any bulbs in?

  14. Hi Toni, oh no, that is much to early! We have had frost and hail and I think that is bad enough.

  15. Gasp! I love snow. But already? Your kitchen still smells like the steam from making fresh tomato sauce, doesn't it?

  16. Hey Toni
Wanted to thank you for your recommendations for trips within Wyoming. We had a blast, and LOVED the bighorn basin. Though we've been around the area before, we never made the trip up into the basin. Wonderful scenery-thanks so much!!
