Tomatoes are ripening up nicely...

Tomatoes!
I've been collecting tomatoes... these are the ones that I picked last week.

This morning as I meandered around the garden, I found lots more tomatoes ready to pick.  I washed everything up in my sink (we finally have the water installed!) with my very favorite organic cleaner.   I just use a few drops of this stuff and I'm always amazed at the grit and dirt that comes out!

It's been so cool this summer that I've been picking lettuce all summer.

In this photo: Tomatoes (mostly Viva Italia), Green Peppers, Baby Romaine Lettuce, Swiss Chard, and Arugula.

I can't believe that it's been so long since my last post!  But it's been a cool summer so the garden has been slow.

We've been really busy with the house working on the kitchen.  Guess that's been my priority!  I'm happy to report that I have a working sink!  My talented hubby got the water connections done on Friday!

  1. No need for an apology - I fully understand the demands that a new house brings with it. The tomatoes look really nice, and I just know you'll use them for making sauce later.

  3. The tomatoes look good! I need more paste tomatoes next year, I'll have to look for Viva Italia.

  5. Life has to be taken care of first, but you're obviously taking care of your garden too.

  6. I think viva italia is a great paste tomato. I made the mistake of trying a different variety that was recommended to me this year - and they are pathetic in comparison. Will not make that same mistake twice.

Your harvest looks great and congratulations on getting your kitchen sink fully functional!

  7. I think you achieved the Holy Grail of gardening. You have tomatoes and lettuce at the same time. That so rarely happens in my house.

  8. Daphne, I've had lettuce all summer long... it's been a cool summer for us. Very unusual!

  10. Nice to see you posting again, and congratulations on lots of great looking tomatoes! And what a lovely variety of greens you have there to go with your tomatoes. I know you've been enjoying the cool weather for some time now, and I can't wait to have some cool weather myself over in Indiana!
