Cabbage & Carrots Harvest

Can't wait to try this cabbage! Not sure how I'll make it... although coleslaw is sounding kind of good....

We enjoyed these carrots with roasted chicken and garden beets (not pictured) last night!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions on how NOT to lose my next planting of tender broccoli plants. I think that I will order some row covers. Sigh.....

  1. I can't grow brassicas here without a row cover. I've tried a million times, but even radish won't grow for me without it. Your cabbage looks stunning. I grew some mini cabbage in the spring, but didn't plant any for the fall.

  3. I have more bugs than any other gardener, I think - and the BT protects my cole crops from damage. It's good stuff! Coleslaw does sound really good, and I'll probably make slaw with mine next year.

  4. That cabage is beautiful Toni! You could make cabbage rolls, they are a pain to make though.

  5. I'll take the carrots! I can't fathom cabbage after having once tried that infamous "Cabbage Soup Diet". Blech!

  10. That's a great looking head of lettuce. I feel your pain regarding your broccoli plants. Mine didn't make it either. And now my Asian greens (also in the brassica family) are slowly disappearing one by one. Yes, row covers ASAP!
