Shasta Daisies, a gift from Ann

My friend Ann offered me some of her Shasta Daisies. I enthusiastically accepted! I love daisies... and... I love black-eyed susans!

I'm just back from digging up 2 5 gallon buckets worth of Daisies. Now to plant them around the cottonwood tree in the front yard!

My SFG is looking really really good! We're still enjoying lettuce, arugula, and radishes.

I'll go take some pictures to share with you!

  1. You know, I haven't ventured into flowers....I planted some for "pest control" purposes, but nothing else. Maybe the house could use some sprucing with flowers.

  2. Hi there Ribbit!
I love the idea of planting flowers for pest control!! I've got some marigolds in my SFG. I'd love to learn more about it!

Yes, plant some flowers!!! Think color!

I have my garden planted at my new under construction house. So there's no landscaping yet... but I thought that Ann's daisies would be so pretty around the cottonwood tree!

I recently learned that Cilantro can be planted as a barrier crop for grasshoppers (a terrible problem in our dry state of Wyoming!) So, I've got cilantro growing up throughout the middle of all my boxes!

  3. I was thinking, "More pansies!" as I was walking around the garden today. The black ones from seed turned out so beautifully that I'd like more. They make a nice complement to the vegetables. Enjoy your daisies.

  4. I used to have tons of Shasta daisies with summer phlox where my east veggie garden is now. I just loved it, but my neighbor's Bermuda grass took over, so I ended up removing everything. I sure miss that sea of lavender and white!

Granny-I'd be happy to send you some plants! My neighbor was very very generous! If you'd like some, please email me. You'll find my email address at the bottom of my blog. It would be such an honor for me to do that for you!!! I've learned so much from your blog!!!!
