Canning...

Well, I took a look at the red ripe tomatoes on my counter and decided that  TODAY is the day!

this photo is from a previous tomato sauce batch...
As I write this, I have a batch of the most delicious smelling tomato sauce simmering.

Yesterday, Mom & I canned 40 pounds of Granny Smith apples that I got from my Bountiful Basket co-op.   I'm thrilled to have 21 quarts of yummy apples down the basement on my shelves!

Got another 40 pound box of Grannies yet to process!  Anyone want to stop over tomorrow and run the apple peeler/corer thingy?

  3. Hi Toni,

Those 2 canning photos on my blog post are my in-laws farm. They can a lot!!

I helped in the canning of the grapes. We use the grape juice for grape jelly and to drink. It's delicious.

MeemsyNYC-ohhhh.... your in-laws DO can a lot!!! I've got more apples to do tomorrow! I've got more of those veggie wash samples, did you want one?

Ribbit-I just did the rings on the apple peeler/corer... thought that I could wiz up the apples to make sauce as I needed from my canned apples.
