Got another 4x8 bed filled and planted!

Yeah... filled another 4x8 bed today... and got it all planted with Roma tomatoes, watermelon, and cantaloupe! That's 3 down... and 2 to go!!!

I'm really happy to be making some good progress!

I decided NOT to give my (30 something) Roma 9 sq' each... just don't have enough room.

Next year...
I hope to plant all Heirloom indeterminate paste tomatoes... will need to do some research... but that way I can trellis them and keep each plant to 1 square' each.

Question...
Do you have a favorite heirloom, indeterminate, paste tomato?

We're receiving some more glorious rain today... and looks like for the next couple days!

  1. My favorites are anything that will make it to maturity! :)

  2. Oh my favorite subject, tomatoes! I would say my two favorite tomatoes are cherokee purple & hillbilly potato leaf. They are both your usual heirlooms that take ages to mature though, 80-85 days from transplant. I was just looking at a nice paste tomato to grow next year but I have forgotten the name. I will see if I can find it again and send the link. I literally have tomato seeds coming out my ears so if you would like any next season just let me know. I think I currently have over 20 varieties.

  3. Hi Dan! Thanks for stopping by!

Isn't it funny that I'm already dreaming about my tomatoes for next year?

Thank you so much for your generous offer to share your seeds! I will most likely take you up on it!

I'll have to learn how to harvest seeds from my garden so that I can share some with you!

  4. I grow Amish Paste, which is a red heirloom paste tomato (the name kind of gives that away, I suppose!). It's indeterminate and can grow pretty tall. The fruit are a good size and plum-shaped. This year I'm trying Purple Russian, too, which is another plum tomato, but purple rather than red. (You might have already guessed that though...)
